How Can I Ensure My Site Performs Well in Google?

Once your new website is up and running, it won't be long before you'll want to see your website appearing in search engine results. But how is this achieved?

In general, there are two methods of achieving 'visibility' in search engines; "Pay Per Click" advertising (PPC) or "Search Engine Optimisation" (SEO). Both have their advantages and disadvantages and you can read about the differences between PPC and SEO here. But for this article, we'll concentrate on SEO.

What's the 'benchmark' for 'SEO success'?

Well, with around 85% of the UK search traffic, Google is generally considered to be the benchmark (lthough other search facilities like Yahoo and Bing are also important).

But how does any new website make its 'mark' using SEO? There are two answers to that; one is quite lengthy; the other is quite short. Let's look at the short answer first:
